August 3 Edify Devotional

Today’s Devotional Theme
Increase

Daily Scripture
Mark 4:30-32
Then He said, "To what shall we liken the kingdom of God? Or with what parable shall we picture it? It is like a mustard seed which, when it is sown on the ground, is smaller than all the seeds on earth; but when it is sown, it grows up and becomes greater than all herbs, and shoots out large branches, so that the birds of the air may nest under its shade."

Encouragement
Multiplication or increase has been a part of humanity since the beginning of creation. From the command God gave Adam and Eve in the beginning in Genesis 1. Then His words to Noah and his sons, after the flood to repopulate the world. Then in Genesis 12, the Lord told Abraham that his descendants would be as the sands of the sea. This began coming true in Exodus 1:7 when the Israelites were exceedingly fruitful and multiplied greatly, increased in numbers and became so numerous that the land was filled with them. God wants His kingdom to multiply and fill the earth.

Take Action!
Matthew 29:19 gives the same indication to how God wants His kingdom to continue on its journey to increase. This increase is in two ways. First, you and I were called to go into the world and make disciples. Increasing the Kingdom. Secondly, we are to personally experience a supernatural increase. This is where we as individual believers do what is ours to do in order to see maturity in every area of our lives. It’s time for the church to increase!

Come into His Presence
Father, You have put the desire in all of us to grow. To increase in every area of our relationship with You. Help me today to see where there needs to be increase and help me to do the things I need to in order to see growth. In Jesus' Name I pray. Amen.
