The Mighty Warrior
Daily Scripture
Psalm 68:1-3, 19 (HCSB)
"God arises, His enemies scatter, and those who hate Him flee from His presence. As smoke is blown away, so You blow them away. As wax melts before the fire, so the wicked are destroyed before God. But the righteous are glad; they rejoice with God and celebrate with joy... May the Lord be praised! Day after day He bears our burdens; God is our salvation... Selah..."
Encouragement
God is indeed the mightiest of warriors. We are His children and though there may be times of walking through fire and wading through deep water, He will never leave us. When His children are attacked, He goes on the warpath to bring justice. The psalmist uses a lot of examples to show how powerful God is and how creation serves Him, even the highest and mightiest of mountains and beasts. God is Lord of all. As powerful as He is, we are welcomed into His loving embrace because we are part of His family and part of the body of Christ. He stands ready to administer justice on our behalf.
Apply God’s Word
The temptation to retaliate instead of rely upon the power of God is a very real and dangerous thing. Two wrongs never make a right. God wants us to allow Him to exact vengeance upon those who oppose His people. When we stand aside and let God do what only He knows to do because only He sees the big picture, we do well. But we will always get ourselves into trouble when we act impulsively in any situation. God is the Mighty Warrior. Let Him be that for you as you go through your day today.
Come into His Presence
Father, I know that You are Lord of all. Please remind me of this when I am steaming mad at something or someone. Remind me of this before I take matters into my own hands. Help me to quiet my spirit and wait for You to act. Thank You. In Jesus' name, amen.
