Psalms 85:8-9
“I will hear what God the Lord will speak, For He will speak peace To His people and to His saints; But let them not turn back to folly. Surely His salvation is near to those who fear Him, That glory may dwell in our land.”
Encouragement
So many times we jump to conclusions and skip to the last chapter of something in life… all while forgetting there is a process to life itself. In our modern-thinking brains, we want life to move from step 1 to step 2. A to B to C, etc. But that’s not how life was designed. There is a reason God only gives us 1 second to live at a time. Life moves forward in circular motions and seasons. There are ups and downs, good times and not-so-good times. Here in this passage of scripture we read the Psalmist, again, pouring out his heart in repentance because he truly wants the things of God, not only for himself but for an entire people, a nation. He doesn’t jump to the conclusion that God’s glory would come. No, he instead confesses that he will hear what God has to say and then warns that we shouldn’t turn back to sin… in turn, turning our backs on God.
Take Action!
Don’t rush the processes of life. Let God be God and rejoice in Him. Surely—oh yes, surely!—God will come with His salvation; His restoration power and bring healing to all who call on Him. When His salvation comes to those who fear Him, His glory comes right along with Him! Today, join me in furthering our repentance and deepening our hunger for more of God. Oh that we will surely HEAR GOD, wait for Him to speak, and respond to His voice! How will you respond to hearing the Lord today? How will you respond to the call for repentance, hunger, and His salvation?
Come into His Presence
Heavenly Father, it is Your voice I want to hear. It is Your salvation I want to receive. It Is Your peace I need to receive. You truly are my hope and joy. I repent today for the things I’ve placed before You. Let me not turn back to folly, but respond to You in obedience and joy. I love You, Father. In Jesus' name. Amen.
