Today’s Devotional Theme Do You See Him Now? Daily Scripture Ephesians 1:18
“That the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints.”
Encouragement
As we have looked at Paul’s prayer to the church in Ephesus, we know by His opening remarks that he saw them as a shining example of what the church should become. However, Paul didn’t stop with some great pat on the back for being a remarkable church. No, Paul knew the challenges that come with spreading the Gospel. As we stated yesterday, He challenged them to know Him better. This was His desire to be their God and not some distant deity that has little to do with his subject. Today we are challenged yet again by Paul. This time is verse 18 where we are to find God. I really like the way Paul used his influence on the people. First, you need to know Him better, and then Paul describes where. The Bible.
Take Action!
Please don’t discount this devotional as just another attempt to get believers to read their Bible. I know that’s simply not going to work in the long run. If you knew there was a book that had the keys to your health, your finances, your relationships and virtually anything that life had to throw you, I’m certain you would do everything in your power to get and devour that book. Well, I found such a book. I know what you’re thinking. I knew that before he said it. But are we really finding life and more importantly God in the Bible? I can assure you that if you opened it and took the time, you would find Him and anything else you needed as well.
Come into His Presence
Father, You are the Bread of Life and that Bread is the daily Bread that we not only long for but desperately need for life. Help us to feast on the Word to find You. To see what You see and to feel what You feel. In Jesus' Name I pray. Amen.
